The metering rod springs bound up somehow. They are under the two little covers near the air horn. You could see the fuel dripping into the throat of the carb. I pulled the metering rods out, re-installed the springs, and it seemed to fix it. Drain as much fuel as possible from the float bowl. This can be done by turning the petcock off and allowing the bike to idle until it is out of fuel. 2). Spray a shot of WD-40 through the fuel inlet barb (what the fuel line connects to on the carburetor). 3). Clean and replace them. If you see any damage to the needles they'll have to be replaced. After doing that, check the float settings. With the plate upside down, the float should be 7/16" above the plate.
